SAFE starts Newman service
Animals are getting a second lease on life thanks to two Newman residents who tirelessly dedicate their time toward finding new homes for the lovable critters.
Emma Paul started SAFE in Newman at the beginning of last year when she noticed a large number of stray animals on the street.
With the help of fellow Newman resident Rosana Stojic, the two have saved and rehomed countless animals.
According to the duo, they regularly go kitten searching and have attended a number of scenarios, including the rescue of a kitten trapped in a hot roof and another stuck underneath a house.
Ms Stojic said it was common to be called to houses where people had left town and abandoned their animals.
She wanted the community to be aware that SAFE was available for locals to surrender their animals so they could find a new home.
Mrs Paul and Ms Stojic said they were always looking to find more foster carers, although it was often hard not to develop an attachment.
They said without the support and donations from the community, SAFE could not run as efficiently.
Anyone interested in becoming a foster carer can contact Emma on 0448 946 796 or Rosana on 0400 645 848.
