The South Hedland Swans have scored a comfortable win at home to beat the Karratha Falcons by 62 points in last weekend's North Pilbara Football League action.

The Swans booted away to a handy four-goal lead in the first quarter and were never headed for the rest of the game as they won 14.12 (96) to 4.10 (34).

Swans coach Troy Melville said he was happy with his team's start in the first quarter but was most impressed by the Swans' six-goal third term.

"I was really happy with the third quarter, we've probably been a little flat in previous weeks so we addressed a few things and the boys hit the ground running," he said.

"Everything clicked in the third quarter, we had our match-ups right, we used it well and that reflected on the scoreboard."

The win helped the Swans slot into fourth position on the NPFL ladder with two wins and two losses.

In one of the most even starts in recent years the Port Hedland Rovers and Dampier Sharks also sit on two wins and two losses, while the Karratha Kats and Wickham Wolves sit on top of the ladder with three wins and one loss.

Melville said he was happy with the Swans' start to the season.

"We've given ourselves an opportunity and we've played some good footy over the last four weeks and the good thing is we keep improving and now we are on the road to Kats, the reigning premiers, coming off a loss," he said. "We get to find out where we sit in the competition so it is a really good test for us."

Melville said the Swans barely had a bad player all night, singling out Curtly Mow, Malcolm Anderson and Josh Nannup as those who stood up.

Steele Viti was also a leading light for the Swans, booting four goals at the weekend to remain the league's leading scorer with 13 majors.

Nick Minett and Jesse Simpson also added two each for the Swans, while the Falcons had four individual goal scorers.

In the reserves, the Swans beat the Falcons, 20.16 (136) to 11.2 (68).
