The Port Hedland Speedway Club’s season ended with a bang at the weekend, literally.

The annual demolition derby was held on Saturday night with more than 10 cars in the running for the $1000 prize money.

The drivers used their skills to eliminate the competition, with Elliott “Elmo” Horrocks reigning supreme after a long battle for the demo derby title.

Club president Warren McDonogh said said there was something about a demo derby that alsways drew spectators to the club.

“People out there do enjoy all the carnage,” he said.

“It was a fantastic to see so many Port Hedland families out there having a good time and soaking in the atmosphere.

“It was also great to see so many kids there enjoying the free face painting.”
