Speeding catches up with MP

NATASHA BODDY and KIRSTY MUGRIDGENorth West Telegraph

Nationals MP Vince Catania has lost his driver’s licence after accruing 12 demerit points.

The member for the North West said he had accrued the points “due to too many speeding tickets” but refused to give details of the offence that cost him his licence.

“It’s my own fault and stupidity and that’s the unfortunate nature sometimes when you’re doing 150,000km a year by car around the electorate, you’re running between towns and travelling long distances just to reach meetings on time, ” Mr Catania said.

“It’s no excuse and I’m paying the price now by not having a licence. When you do the crime, you have to do the time and that’s what I’ll be doing."
