She made a name for herself as a supermum after feeding 15 puppies at once, but now Tess, the Hedland rescue dog, is looking for her forever home.

The five-year-old Kelpie cross was dumped at the pound in Port Hedland in late May, only days before she gave birth to seven puppies.

The medium-sized dog was quickly rescued by Saving Animals from Euthanasia co-ordinator Samantha Wainwright, and got her reputation as a supermum after taking on and feeding another eight rescued puppies at the same time as her own puppies.

Ms Wainwright said the time had now come for Tess to find a home just like all her babies had done.

She said Tess had proved what a loving nature she had by taking on the additional puppies without any hesitation.

“Tess did such an amazing job with all her babies who have now found their forever homes and she is waiting patiently for her turn, ” she said.

“Going through all these ups and downs, our supermum does need someone who would be willing to give her time to settle in and work with her.

“She loves attention and really is such a sweetheart.”

Ms Wainwright said the organisation was confident the right person was out there for Tess, and encouraged those interested in giving her a new home to get in touch.

She said Tess had been through so much in the past few months and would need a little time to adjust to a new home.

“Tess has been moved around a bit and with all the confusion over her puppies being moved on she has to suss out the yard and may dig,” she said.

“But in time, Tess settles down and just wants to love everyone.

“She gets along with other dogs and enjoys kids, especially babies, even more when they drop food for her from their high chair onto the ground for her to eat.”
