Town declares all-hours gym a success

North West Telegraph

The Town of Port Hedland says uptake of its 24-hour gym service at Wanangkura Stadium has been a success.

Since the Town launched the 24-hour service three weeks ago, use of the gym has been steady from 11pm to 3am, with up to 40 people utilising the facility between 3.30am and 7am.

Town chief executive Mal Osborne said the local government anticipated that once members and the wider community became aware of the service, there would be a reduction in congestion during traditional peak periods.

"The Town and YMCA understand that the community in Port Hedland is unique, in that workers have differing shifts, rosters and commitments," he said. "By providing 24-hour gym access, members have access to a flexible service and are able to maintain a fitness routine regardless of their lifestyle."

Twenty-four hour gym access is only available to Port Hedland Leisure members.

To become a member, complete a registration form at Wanangkura Stadium on Hamilton Road in South Hedland.
