The Welcome to Hedland Community Expo will be held next month to introduce new and existing residents to local not-for-profit, sporting and community groups, government agencies and local businesses.

One of the Town of Port Hedland’s biggest annual events, the welcome day is also an opportunity for the community to come together and showcase all that living in Port Hedland has to offer.

Mayor Kelly Howlett encouraged all residents, whether they had been in town for five days, five weeks or five years, to come along and celebrate.

“Welcome to Hedland is a highlight on the Town’s event calendar every year,” she said.

“The event is a fantastic opportunity for local not-for-profit, sporting and community groups, government agencies and local businesses to have their services highlighted and to meet new residents who have recently moved to Port Hedland.

“It is also a great way for our long-term residents to find out about new service providers and hobby groups that have recently set up in town.”

In addition to a range of stalls and information outlets, community members will be treated to live entertainment and music from local acts at the expo, with plenty of family-friendly activities at the amphitheatre in South Hedland.

Stallholder applications are open to small business, government agencies, parent groups, children’s activities, hobby and sporting groups, emergency services, banking, real estate and services and fundraising food stalls.

Application forms for stallholders are available online at www.porthedland.wa.gov.au and deadline for registration is May 9.
