Toy library in need of a larger home

Hedland Toy Library is reaching out for help as it struggles to work from its Lotteries House storeroom.

Open every fortnight, the toy library has a range of toys, from building blocks to bouncy castles for families to take home and enjoy.

However, while it looks easy to do from the outside, president Tash Osinski-Hill said a lot of work went into the not-for-profit organisation.

“We open every fortnight where we have to pull everything out of our storeroom and set up — which includes tables, chairs, computer and toys — then at the end of the session we have to pack it all away again,” she said.

“We are very grateful for having the space we do, but we are also limited by it.

“We are unable to expand our collection of larger outside toys.”

Ms Osinski-Hill said she had spend the past three years as library president looking for a new location.

“We’re at a loss of what we can do from here,” she said. “We would love to upgrade and it really is becoming a necessity.”

The committee of five working mums said their ideal location would be in South Hedland where the “set-up” was reduced.
