Travel no barrier to new champ
Newman boy Mitchell Outram won the State Championship title in the 125cc division at this year’s WA Motocross Junior Showdown in Byford at the weekend.
The 16-year-old has been busy travelling the State this year to compete in the six rounds of championship racing, which ran from May-September.
At the race on Sunday, Mitchell was in the spotlight, answering the call with the overall round win from Kai Stephen, who fought hard for the second step, with Billy Middleton placing third.
Mitchell’s results have him as the 2016 series championship holder from Billy, who picked up second for the season from Kurt Oinn.
He now sets his sights on the national titles which will be held in Remark, South Australia this weekend.
Mitchell said he definitely could not have got to where he was today without the support of his family and sponsors.
“Huge thanks to Mandurah City KTM, Dynotime, Lend Lease Newman, Motorex, Fox, F1 Moto, HGS, VHM,” he said.
Not only did Mitchell win the State Championship title in the 125cc division, he also placed fourth in the season standings for the 128cc-150cc/250cc 13-16 Years class, after getting third place in the race on the day.
