The Variety WA Pilbara charity house is nearing completion with roof and windows installed and the cladding underway.

The house is being built by Custom Construction with the help of tens of thousands of dollars worth of donated materials from more than 25 local companies.

Situated on 693sqm of prime land in Pretty Pool, the project is on track for its expected April completion, with an anticipated sale price in excess of $1.5 million.

Fortescue Metals Group provided an interest-free loan of up to $400,000 while Landcorp has given a discounted price on the land, with settlement not due until the sale of the house is complete.

Variety WA Pilbara chapter president Peter Broad said he was excited with the progress of the project.

“It’s been fantastic to see the tradies and suppliers really get behind this project – it’s been a real team effort,” he said.

“It’s great to see this innovative project taking shape and we’re all looking forward to seeing the finished product.”

FMG chief executive Nev Power said the company was glad to be involved in such a wonderful community initiative.
