Walls takes latest summer cup round after countback
Another big field of golfers turned out for a tightly contested round 7 of the Home Hardware summer cup last weekend.
Some good scores were recorded and several countbacks took place.
A countback was needed to decide first place, with Matty Walls triumphing over Duncan Harrison, both with 23 points. In a welcome return to competition, Jay Thorby took third place with 22 points.
Nearest the pin on the 2nd and the money hole was Donna Thomas, while on the 8th, Teresa Fairclough went the closest.
The longest putt belonged to Lynn Lissa, while Helen Wright claimed the ladies' long drive and Luke Jessop out-distanced the men's field.
This week brings round 8, leaving only two rounds to play, so players are encouraged to arrive early and have their names in by 2pm for a 2.30pm tee-off.
On April 11, the club's annual season opening day takes place, with teams of four for the Ambrose event.
