Four junior tennis players from Wickham have backed up their first outing of the year in Busselton with a good showing at the Geraldton Easter Open from April 17 to 20.

The team of Hunter Moore, 9, Lawson Humphries, 11, Meeza Humphries, 9, and Charli Moore, 10, improved on their first tournament after they put in some solid training from January through to April.

Charli and Meeza won the 10-and-under doubles and both played in the under-14s singles division, where they gained invaluable match experience.

Hunter came overall second in the 10-and-under round robin singles, while Charli got a third-place finish.

Hunter also played in the 12-and-under singles.

Lawson drew some bad luck and had to withdraw from singles play with an injury, but partnered with Hunter in the 12-and-under doubles, where they came runners-up.

Wickham Junior Tennis coach Carmen Moore said the players thanked the Shire of Roebourne for their support.

"I was really happy with their training effort in the lead-up to the tournament and was very impressed with their positive attitude and the fair sportsmanship displayed at the tournament," she said.

Wickham Junior Tennis caters for children of all abilities from ages as early as four years old.
