Young fisherman’s star catch

Ben Leahy and Bill DawsonNorth West Telegraph

Hedland fisherman Liam Dawson scored the catch of his young life recently.

After hooking a few smaller fish while out with his mother, father and brother Tim at Minilya Bank, eight-year old Liam then landed this delicious Spanish mackerel.

“(I) caught some small snapper coral trout and saw lots of whales, ” he said.

“(Then) Dad put a lure out and the rod whizzed off.

“Dad stopped the boat and I wound in the biggest fish I have ever caught.

“(Then) we had fish and chips for tea.”
