Youth centre breaks ground
Project partners took part in a sod turn in South Hedland last week to mark the beginning of construction at the new Youth Involvement Council headquarters.
Representatives from YIC and sponsors BHP Billiton and the Pilbara Development Commission attended the milestone.
The new facility, which will support at-risk, disadvantaged and homeless children as young as five years old, is expected to open in March next year.
YIC chief executive Vicki Stephens said the new centre would include a dedicated space for younger children, a social enterprise centre, a computer training suite, a new education centre and an outdoor classroom.
