Youth Festival proves a success
More than 400 residents attended the Newman Youth Festival earlier this month to celebrate the contributions of young people to the community.
There was no shortage of fun activities on offer at the event during National Youth Week, including a water slide, laser tag, mechanical bulls and an inflatable maze.
Some of the festival highlights included an energetic performance by DJ Viv and the St John Ambulance stall, where volunteers could get fake wounds attached.
Shire of East Pilbara chief executive Allen Cooper said the event was a huge success and well received by the community.
“Community feedback has been very positive,” he said.
“One of the extra benefits was that this all-inclusive young persons’ event was completely free.
“I would like to thank the committee of young people who assisted to plan and organise the event and our youth services team, who worked tirelessly to make it happen.
“It really was their day, their way.”
