Zorro's return

SHANNON HAMPTONNorth West Telegraph

A beloved cat that went missing for nearly six weeks has been found.

As reported in the North West Telegraph last month, a $2000 reward was offered for the safe return of Zorro.

Owner Denise Clements said it was a miracle the 10-year-old cat had been found and that it was “fantastic” to have him home.

She said Zorro had lost a third of his weight and had an infection under his right front leg but was expected to make a full recovery.

Ms Clements said Zorro was found just two streets away from where he went missing by a couple who thought it was their own cat.

“When they realised it wasn’t theirs they called the number on his name tag, but I wasn’t available,” she said.

“A family member happened to be there who mentioned it was the cat that had been missing with much exposure.

“She rushed home, grabbed the poster and called (my friend) who came and grabbed him and took him to the vet for some much-needed attention.”

Ms Clements said she dropped to her knees upon hearing the news Zorro had been found.

“I was elated,” she said.

“But I was curious to know how his health and well-being was.”

Ms Clements said the reward money was paid to the couple.

“We always intended on paying the reward as our cat means so much more to us and it is because of these lovely, honest people, who obviously care for the welfare of animals that he arrived home safe to us,” she said.
