Busselton swimmer Aidan Fisher was a stand-out at the 2025 Aqua Technics WA Junior Championships in Perth earlier this month, winning 12 State medals.

Aidan, 10, was one of nine swimmers representing the Busselton Swimming Club.

He took home seven gold medals, four silver and a bronze after competing in 12 events over the three days, including 200m individual medley, 200m backstroke, 200m freestyle, 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke races.

Teammate Phoebe Parkin, 9, took home the silver for the 50m butterfly and achieved personal bests in all her races, while 11-year-old Ivy Hoang took fifth in two breaststroke races, breaking the club’s 50m breaststroke record in the process.

Busselton’s head coach Andrew Sexton said he looked forward to Aidan’s development over the next few years, given his dominance in the championships.

“For a 10-year-old swimmer to dominate the longer races by up to eight (seconds), and to be willing to have a go at these distances at his age makes his future very bright,” he said.

“It is also wonderful for a young swimmer to reap the rewards he has earned during his efforts at training.”

He added that he was happy with the members of the club breaking their personal bests and club records during the championships and hopes they continue to succeed at the next Junior State Championships.

“Swimming is a sport that requires lots of time and discipline from our young swimmers and I look forward to continue helping them achieve their personal goals as the winter season starts in May,” Sexton said.

“I hope to see many more medals at our next junior States in September.”

Busselton Swimming Club was one of 54 across the State to compete in the championships, which had 550 swimmers hit the water from April 4 to 6.
