Two days after a Sydney woman won $100m in Oz Lotto another $60m is up for grabs in Powerball
The winning numbers for the $60m Powerball jackpot, the second massive lottery prize in a week, have been drawn.
The winning numbers for the 1499 draw are 20 23 34 19 24 31 10 with the Powerball 14.
It comes just two days after a Sydney woman took home $100m in Oz Lotto’s biggest single prize draw in history.
Just one winning entry has also taken out Thursday’s Powerball, but further details are yet to be released.
One in six Australian adults had been expected to buy a ticket in Thursday’s draw, which is the first time in four months the Powerball jackpot has reached a monstrous cash prize.
The most Powerball tickets sold in a single minute was 8000 at 6.17pm last November when the jackpot hit $100m.
If you need a bit of luck on your side, the luckiest state to win the most division one Lottery wins last financial year was in Victoria with NSW winners taking home the most prize money
There were four division one winners from Sydney, Melbourne and Eli Waters/Urraween in Queensland.
“From Burnie in Tasmania to Bassendean in Western Australia, Salisbury in South Australia to Sydney, hundreds of Aussies across the country experienced the indescribable thrill of a division one win last financial year,” The Lott spokesman Matt Hart said.
“Some players tell us they deliberately pick outlets that have recently sold a major lottery prize in the hope of continuing the winning streak, while other players choose different outlets, believing lightning won’t strike twice.”
Powerball has delivered 13 division one entries across Australia so far this year totalling $313m in prize money, but if the jackpot does not go off on Thursday next week’s draw will reach $100m.
On Tuesday a woman from Elizabeth Hills in Sydney’s west, was “wide-eyed in disbelief” to find out she was the only division one winner in Tuesday’s draw taking home $100m.
The woman had just finished watching Married At First Sight when she received the life-changing phone call.
“Oh my gosh. I still can’t believe it. I only treat myself to lotteries when there’s a big jackpot, and I saw $100 million on offer in Oz Lotto and decided to give it a go.
“I still feel like I’m being pranked or I’m dreaming.”
The stunned winner shared the multimillion-dollar windfall would signal the end of her workdays for good, and would allow her to buy a house of her own.
“I love my job, but I won’t need to work seven days a week anymore. It’s actually really nice to think that I won’t need to work,” she said
“I’ll finally be able to buy a place of my own. It’s so exciting.”
