Hedland golfers turned out for the first Monthly Mug for 2015 last Saturday - sponsored by the Thomas Family - with a big field of 45 players hoping to claim the elusive mug.

Jarrod Hodgins was nearest the pin on the 2nd and the money hole this week, while on the 8th it was Bruce Wheeler, Scott Leech went the closest on 13 and Steve Lindley secured the 17th and long putt for the day.

Reg Thorby was closest on the 12th for 2 and Peter Focian went closest for three shots on 9.

Ladies' long drive went to Teresa Fairclough.

At the pointy end of the field, competition was tight once again.

Gary Bright shot a 70 nett only to lose by way of countback to Zeljko Pejovic, who also shot a 70 nett, while Mal Osborne finished close behind after he shot a 69 nett.

This week is Anzac Day with an Australia v New Zealand Stabledford event being held as competitors will play it out for a trophy and, of course, bragging rights.

Players are requested to register by 11.30am.

Play will start after a minute's silence is observed for Anzac Day.
