Newman Senior High School held its athletics carnival recently and there was a large turnout of students who were eager to compete for the top spot.

NSHS physical education teacher Sam Alexeeff said there were a number of close events at the carnival, held on Friday, August 8.

"A number of the running races featured tight finishes," he said.

"The upper school high jump was also hotly contested."

Teacher Leshay Wisewood echoed Alexeeff's comments and said it was great to see so much participation and enthusiasm from the students.

There were colourful dress ups during the day to distinguish the school factions and overall it was well-received by parents, teachers and students.
