Hill River and Jurien Bay bushfire: Fire is not contained or controlled Watch and Act advice in place
A watch and act warning is in place for a bushfire burning near Jurien Bay.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services issued the warning on Wednesday morning for people near Munbinea Road near the Cantabilling Road intersection in Hill River and Jurien Bay.
“Burning embers are likely to be blown around your home and could spark a fire,” DFES warns.
The bushfire is moving in a westerly direction and residents in the area have been told to leave now if that is their plan.
Firefighters are actively fighting the fire and aerial support is assisting ground crews.
Smoke from the bushfire, which was reported at 4am on Wednesday and is burning in bush near Hill River Nature Reserve, is impacting the town of Jurien Bay, and some road closures are in place.
The fire is not contained or controlled.
Munbinea Road is closed between Jurien Bay Road East and Cairn Road, Canover Road is closed from Munbinea Road to Jurien Bay Vista and Cantabilling Road is closed to the east of Hill River Nature Reserve.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area and to drive carefully; for more information on road closures, visit Main Roads WA.
