Junior basketball is back for 2014, with the six-week season commencing on Friday, February 21 at the Wanangkura Stadium in South Hedland.

The competition is suitable for young people aged nine to 16 years with both boys and girls welcome to play.

Town of Port Hedland Mayor Kelly Howlett said with experienced coaches and mentors, the Hedland Junior Basketball Association was delivering a quality program for young people.

Registration for junior basketball will take place on Friday, February 21 at Wanangkura Stadium from 4pm, with games commencing at 5pm.

Meanwhile, nominations are open for the 10-week Friday night senior basketball competition, set to kick off on March 7.

Hedland Junior Basketball Association committee member Paul Wojtasiak said the senior competition was the "missing piece" for Wanangkura Stadium.

Skills training, games and competition nights will take place every Friday night from 5pm to 6pm, ending on March 28.
