A 31-year-old man was arrested and remanded in custody for being "a risk to society" after he exposed himself to a woman at a Port Hedland truck stop, according to local police.

Port Hedland police Sergeant Jason Gentili said on July 23 a man followed a 58-year-old female security guard into the public shower block behind the Coles Express service station on the Great Northern Highway.

He said when the woman exited the shower she found the man standing in front of her nude, performing an indecent act.

"The woman fled inside the servo and told the manager, who then called police," he said.

"Police arrived and charged the man with an indecent act."

But Sgt Gentili said the man misbehaved again in front of a female police officer at the South Hedland station.

"He was then charged with disorderly conduct in a police station and was remanded in custody until August 5," he said.
