The dates for this year's North West Festival have been confirmed and the first of a number of acts to take the stage announced.

This year's Weekender will be held from Friday, August 21, to Sunday, August 23, with free camping for the duration.

Organisers said there would be two full nights of entertainment with plenty of well-known acts on Friday and Saturday before a sundowner on the Sunday.

In addition, there will be a range of activities during the weekend and in the time leading up to the fourth instalment of the successful event.

With the full bill of artists for all three days expected to be announced within weeks, the North West Telegraph can exclusively reveal Australian electronic music duo Peking Duk will be there.

Disc jockey and music producers Adam Hyde and Reuben Styles have just played one of the world's best known festivals - Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

Their appearance at Coachella has been part of a big start to 2015 for the Canberra-bred duo, who had two singles in the top five of this year's Triple J Hottest 100, won a Rolling Stone Award for Best Video and their single Take Me Over has achieved platinum sales.

The pair said they were "pumped" to be heading back to the Pilbara for their first appearance at the festival.

"We're looking forward to coming back out there and getting sweaty with all you beautiful people," Hyde said.

"We have been writing our album for a while now which has a lot of different styles across it.

"We'll be bringing a good time and some cheeky surprises to our set at North West Festival. Good times ahead."

Meanwhile Styles said he had heard plenty of good things about the festival from musos who had played at previous festivals.

"Cat Empire told us it rocked," he said.

"Our lighting guy actually did Flight Facilities last year and told us to expect none other than a proper good time. We are pumped to finally head up."

Organisers said the full announcement of artists would be released soon.
