Ovals an ocean of colour

Ben LeahyNorth West Telegraph

Hedland's junior athletes lit up the town's ovals last week as they competed in an interschool sports carnival.

With students from South Hedland, Port Hedland, Baler, Cassia and St Cecilia's primary schools all putting their best foot forward, the sports ovals were transformed into a sea of colour across two days.

South Hedland Primary hosted the first competition on June 24 in which the athletes competed in throwing disciplines.

The action transferred to Colin Matheson Oval on June 26 for team games and running races.

Despite some star individual performances, the focus of the events were more on having fun and participation.
