Rovers in the final

The Port Hedland Rovers have continued their dominant 2014 season, marching into the North Pilbara Football League grand final after a convincing win over the Karratha Kats last weekend.
The Rovers made an early start in their semifinal clash with the Kats and were never headed, recording a 38-point win in an occasionally spiteful match.
Rovers coach Greg Mastrangelo was impressed with his team's focus as they opened with a six-goal-to-two first quarter.
"We had a really good start, and the pressure the boys put on the Kats was really good and gave us more scoring opportunities," he said.
"By taking our chances early, we then made it hard for them to come back later in the game."
"We are really pleased with the result and the way the guys were very focused on getting the job done on the night."
The win gives the Rovers a week off to prepare for a home grand final on August 30, while the Kats face the Dampier Sharks in a do-or-die preliminary final on Saturday in Karratha.
It will be hard for the Kats to find positives from last weekend's clash as the Rovers were dominant in each quarter.
After opening a 28-point lead in the first quarter, the Rovers extended their lead to 34 at the main break. The Kats rallied in a spiteful last quarter which included a melee as players grappled near the centre of the ground, but the Karratha team still went down 6.5 (41) to the Rovers' 12.7 (79).
Mastrangelo said his players had maintained their pressure throughout the game.
"We controlled the majority of the play and we finished the game off quite well given the dewy conditions," he said.
"Our backline stood up really well again. Jade Hodge led the way down back and our midfield brigade as a whole was quite dominant at times."
Mastrangelo said the Rovers should have a full squad from which to choose their grand final team in two weeks.
"There are only a couple of boys with a few niggles, but essentially we should go into (the grand final) full strength, so no excuses," he said.
In the Reserves semifinal, the Rovers went down to the Wickham Wolves 12.9 (81) to 5.6 (36).
However, despite the loss, the Rovers get a second chance to make the grand final as they face the Karratha Kats in the Reserves preliminary final this Saturday.
Hedland residents, keen to support the Rovers League team, are welcome to join the club after training on Friday, August 29, when the grand final team is announced over dinner in the clubrooms, Mastrangelo said.
"We open up Friday night before the game. We have food on upstairs and we announce the teams so all members, supporters and locals are welcome to come down and enjoy the club atmosphere," he said.
