Second win for Saxon's Patch
A large crowd gathered at Port Hedland Turf Club at the weekend for the second meeting of the season.
The Kevin McAuley-trained Saxon's Patch backed up its success from the last meeting, winning the first race of the day ahead of outsider Totes Amaze and Incoherent.
In race two, sponsored by Spirit Radio and Red FM, Rock Star Baby was first to the finish line in the 1400m sprint ahead of favourites Snitchs and Flirtatious.
Barely a Cabernet took out race three, despite the odds stacked against it at $8 for the win.
Favourite Comfortably finished fourth, missing a share of the $9000 prize pool.
Our Shakira came from the back of the pack in race four to win by an eyelash, while race five was another nailbiting finish, with Cooper Union crossing the line a whisker ahead of Ballidu Bomber, Alpha Cat and Surtara.
The day was rounded out by favourite King Red Pin winning the final 1200m race.
The next meeting at the Port Hedland Turf Club will be Ladies' Day on Sunday, July 19.
