Perth weather: Gloomy days with rain to see out hot & sunny start to week

On the back of a hot and sunny Tuesday, Perth’s end to the week and weekend are looking dark and gloomy.
A Bureau of Meteorology spokesperson said it’s not uncommon to experience rapid changes in temperature after warm weather.
“A west coast trough sitting offshore from Perth is bringing warm air across from the east and the north, which increases temperatures,” they said.
“This was notable (on Tuesday) in Perth with a maximum temperature of 33.4C.”
As the trough moves inland, combined with winds, moist air from the ocean creates the humidity we’re experiencing.
“It is not unusual to see humid conditions behind a trough when winds change from easterly to south-westerly at this time of year,” they said.
