Star forward a late scratching from grand-final rematch

Star forward Charlie Cameron is a late scratching from Brisbane's AFL grand-final rematch against Sydney, with debutant Levi Ashcroft elevated into the starting side.
Ashcroft, the younger brother of last year's Norm Smith medallist Will, was a father son-selection at pick No.5 in last year's draft.
The 18-year-old was originally set to play as the Lions' substitute in Saturday's clash at the SCG, but the visitors were forced into a late rethink after ruling a line through Cameron because of a calf issue.
Confirmed: Charlie Cameron (calf tightness) is a late out of today's match, with debutant Levi Ashcroft taking his place in the starting team.Conor McKenna comes into the line-up as sub.— Brisbane Lions (@brisbanelions) March 15, 2025
"We know he (Levi Ashcroft) is a really talented player," Lions coach Chris Fagan said on Friday.
"When he does come onto the field, he'll have a real impact.
"His under-18 form is absolutely fantastic, and every indication is that he'll be a terrific player for us.
"But he's got to make the transition to play AFL football now, and at the moment, we've only had a couple of practice matches to have a look at that. So time will tell."
Conor McKenna will be the Lions' sub for Saturday's clash, as he was for last year's grand final, while Riley Bice will perform the same role for the Swans.
