The weather has cleared and there’s plenty of action on day two of the Third Test! Stay across the latest here.

Half an hour remains

We’re approaching the end of what’s been an entertaining, high-scoring and fruitful day for the Aussies, with more than 330 runs added.

It’s 6-357 as Mohammed Siraj continues what’s been a rough Sunday. He’s got 0-70 from his 19 overs and has failed to penetrate as much as he’d like, which sums up the day for the tourists from a wider point of view.

Carey is 22 from 23 as he looks to carry on his solid form.

90 overs down - Australia 6-347

It’s a little more circumspect from Carey and Cummins in the wake of that string of wickets.

Safe to say that declaration won’t be coming this evening.

As a reminder: There’s another big cricket fixture coming up after this! The Scorchers open the BBL season (for the first time) with a home clash against the Melbourne Stars.

... AND NOW HEAD GOES!

It’s a flurry of wickets as this second new ball starts to have an impact. Certainly when it’s in Bumrah’s hands!

Head stays aggressive and looks to drive but gets a decent nick through to Pant. A magificent innings ends on 152, off just 160 balls, with 18 fours.

Bumrah has 5-61 - and immediately draws a play-and-miss out of the new batter Pat Cummins. He’s a menace.

Australia are now 6-327. How aggressive will they remain with two new men at the crease?

MARSH OUT

Mitch Marsh is in and out fairly swiftly here, and Bumrah has his fourth!

Kohli accepts the catch at slip after a prod outside off goes wrong, with a beautiful ball that mpitched just outside off and shaped away, and Marsh has to go for five.

Alex Carey joins his fellow South Australian in Head at the crease and it’s 5-326.

Head 150

The 150 is up for Travis Head!

He has a habit of turning centuries into large centuries, and he’s done it again here. It’s the fifth time he’s hit the milestone in his career.

Australia are 4-322. There’s some chatter around whether there’ll be a declaration and a few overs to bowl at India before stumps, but that appears unlikely.

SMITH GONE

It’s 100 and out for Steve Smith - well, 101 and out!

He nicks Bumrah to first slip and Rohit holds onto an impressive catch.

The superb partnership ends at 241, and a vital innings for Smith’s career is over. He gets a standing ovation as he walks off, with the Gabba crowd in full voice.

Mitch Marsh is the new man and it’s 4-316.

Drinks: 3-313

Australia are hammering towards a significant first-innings total now.

Head is four away from 150, with Smith joining him in three figures, and the new ball hasn’t troubled them too much other than a ‘crowd catch’ that had to be examined by the TV umpore.

The stand is worth 238 and counting...

SMITH CENTURY

It’s 100 up for Steve Smith!

He breaks his century drought in style! Clips one off the legs and makes a pointed celebration toward the rooms, complete with a big swish of the bat at the end.

He breaks a tie with Steve Waugh and now owns the second-most centuries by an Australian player with 33, trailing only Ricky Ponting (41).

New ball time

No surprise here that Bumrah grabs the new ball.

Bumrah and Akash Deep have kept things fairly tight, but bowlers outside of that duo have leaked runs - with Reddy going at 5 per over and Jadeja at 4.6.

Head shows no mercy for Bumrah, however, as he whips him forward of square for yet another boundary first ball with the new cherry. It’s 3-301.

Record looming?

This is now Australia’s second-highest partnership for the third wicket in Tests at the Gabba.

It trails only Don Bradman and Lindsay Hassett’s 276 against England all the way back in 1946.

Smith is now up to 90... and it’s 3-285.
