WORLD CUP: INDIA V AUSTRALIA

Score: India (4-201 from 41.2 overs) beat Australia (199) by six wickets with 52 balls to spare.

Summary: Mitch Marsh went for a duck after Australia won the toss and batted first, but Steve Smith and David Warner managed to recover to get the side to 1-74 before India's spinners took hold. Australia lost 6-66 and at one stage went 73 balls without a boundary to fall well behind the game. Bowled out for 199, Australia had India 3-2 in reply before a Mitch Marsh drop let Virat Kohli off the hook. India barely offered another chance until the game was all but settled, chasing down the target with six wickets and 52 balls to spare.

Man of the moment: Ravindra Jadeja. Spun Australia's batters into a web with his 3-28. His 10 overs included two maidens, while his effort to remove Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne and Alex Carey in quick succession killed off Australia's innings.

Key moment: Mitch Marsh's drop of Virat Kohli. After Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc had India 3-2, it could have been 4-20 had Marsh taken a relatively simple chance to remove Kohli on 12. Instead Kohli hit 85 to take the hosts to a comfortable victory.

Stat of the day: India's three spinners took a combined 6-104 from their 30 overs, with 101 dot balls between them. Australia's went for 0-86 from 16 overs, with 37 dot balls.
