Fremantle are facing a fresh dilemma about their best ruck set-up, with back-up ruckman Pat Voss hit with a three-match suspension for his strike on Richmond’s Nick Vlastuin.

Voss collected the Tigers defender with a swinging right arm in a tackle in the fourth quarter of the Dockers’ comfortable win on Sunday. Vlastuin was left with a bloodied face and played no further part in the match after being assisted from the ground.

The hit was graded as careless, with severe impact and high contact, with no potential reduction for the penalty with an early guilty plea.

The Dockers must make a decision by 10am (WA time) on Tuesday on whether to challenge the call at the tribunal.

It leaves Freo facing the prospect of being without Voss for matches against Melbourne, Adelaide and St Kilda over the coming weeks, adding intrigue to what structure the Dockers will take with their ruck rotation.

Voss has played as the chop-out ruckman across the past few weeks, first deputising for Luke Jackson before providing support for the returning Sean Darcy last weekend.

With Jackson still likely to be sidelined with a hamstring injury for at least Saturday’s MCG clash with Melbourne, Liam Reidy could be called upon for his first match since the season opener or the Dockers could look elsewhere for a ruck cameo.

Voss has emerged as a fan favourite in the opening month of Fremantle’s season, booting three goals and earning attention for some of his celebrations - including a sprinting effort after a successful snap against the Tigers.

Fremantle’s Jaeger O’Meara was also hit with a $1500 fine for careless contact with an umpire, which can be reduced to $1000 with an early plea.

Meanwhile, six Port Adelaide and Hawthorn players have been fined for melees during Sunday night’s grudge game.

Port’s Kane Farrell, Ollie Wines, Ollie Lord and Mitch Georgiades were hit with fines between $1500 and $3125 and Hawk duo Blake Hardwick and Changkuoth Jiath received $1500 fines.
