Western Force have locked in two more members of the front row club, re-signing prop Chris Heiberg for next season and hooker Andrew Ready on a two-year deal.

Cape Town-born Heiberg, 35, arrived at the Force from the Stormers in 2015. He returned to South Africa to join the Southern Kings in 2017, before rejoining the Force a year later.

“WA is very much my home. I have been here for quite some time and have really grown to love it and made some incredible friends and memories,” Heiberg, last season’s Force Man Award winner, said.

“Being with the Force over the years has been such a unique journey, but one that I have been able to share with some of my best friends, which makes it so special.

“We are such a close group and through everything we have become closer.

Ready, 27, spent five years with Queensland Reds and was tipped as a future Wallaby following a breakout 2016 campaign.

He was selected for Australia’s European tour as a development player before falling off the national radar.

The Australian under-20 and schools representative had a stint with Southland in New Zealand and was offered a contract in Wales but chose to join the Force two years ago.

“This year was massive for us being back in Super Rugby and for me personally getting another taste of it,” Ready said.

“I’m really excited about the experience the club is bringing in from around the world into the squad. To be able to learn from those players is going to be awesome.

“Having (Argentinian hooker) Julian Montoya come to the club is also exciting for me.

“I want to be able to push myself to higher honours within Australian rugby, so hopefully we can push each other to improve our games.

“It means a lot to see us building something special. There’s a lot of care here within the Force culture. We are a family, everyone’s respected no matter what your experience.”

Force have been on a very active recruitment campaign and more international re-signings and new faces will be added to the squad.

It is understood they are in talks with Waratahs and former Australian under-20 and schoolboy representative second-rower Ryan McCauley.
