West Coast Eagles draftee Bo Allan sees return of giant draft jumper

With tension, drama and the draft pick they wanted all along, West Coast’s first night of the AFL draft had it all, including another ridiculously oversized jumper.

Standing at 191cm and around 85 kilograms, Bo Allan must have felt pretty safe in the fact the Eagles couldn’t possibly repeat the scenes that embarrassed Campbell Chesser when he was their first pick in 2021.

However, the Halls Head and Peel Thunder product was left looking awkward in his first official photoshoot as an Eagle, the jumper club legend John Worsfold handed him after being taken with pick 16 draping off his well-crafted physique.

It didn’t reach the bagging extravaganza of the guernsey that nearly buried Chesser, but it seems like an issue that could be easily solved with a few extra jumper sizes.

Allan could consider himself lucky compared to No.2 pick Finn O’Sullivan, whose torso was lost in a massive North Melbourne jumper.

The Dockers, on the other hand, got their jumper selection just as on point as their draftee, wrapping prized young midfield talent Murphy Reid in purple after he slipped to pick 17.

No.1 overall pick Sam Lalor also looked sharp in his Richmond jumper.

West Coast ensured the night was filled with drama, and Allan’s heart was left in his throat as they pulled a last-moment trade while on the draft clock.

They gave up pick 15 to gain pick 16 and 42 as the Power leapfrogged the Dockers to bounce on South Australian small forward Joe Berry, who had been strongly leaked to the port club.
