Zannie Abbott, a spokesperson for eBay Australia, said Aussies have united to celebrate a passion for the sport and the “mighty Matildas”.

“With footy fever gripping the country and the world, fans across the nation are donning their green and gold in support of our home team heroes,” she said.

“With Australia taking on the world and inspiring the next generation of women and girls in sports, it’s great to see the nation get behind their home team with unwavering support.”

Outside of eBay, other big brands have been jumping on the bandwagon, too.

Popular brand Frank Green released a special edition Matildas reusable ceramic cup and water bottle, with the product flying off shelves.

The cup can be purchased for $49.95 with the bottle setting back customers a whopping $69.95.

Nike also joined in the fun, revealing the “record-breaking” demand for the Matildas team jersey.

The Guardian reported that more jerseys have been sold in Australia in the last three months compared to any other time.

“This year’s tournament is a generational moment for sport and culture, and never has this been more strongly reflected than the past week,” said Ashley Reade – the Asia-Pacific general manager of Nike.

“To see Australians of all ages rally around the Matildas is a catalysing time for women’s sport and these unprecedented jersey sales only cement their status as national icons.”
