September wait for Potter fans

NIALL BOYLENorth West Telegraph

Hedland fans of Harry Potter will have to wait until September to discover what happens in the stunning finale of the wizarding saga.

Muggles flocked to the movies last week when the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part Two opened to great aplomb across the globe and smashed its way to the top of the Australian box office.

Earning more than $7 million on its first day, the eighth and final move adaption of JK Rowling’s successful books powered past the previous record set in 2003 by The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King.

It opened at 753 screens across the country, the widest audience in Australian history, but fans were disappointed as South Hedland’s Matt Dann Cultural Centre was not one of them.

Matt Dann operations co-ordinator Jo Flynn said many people had called and emailed the theatre about the new Harry Potter film.

“Depending on availability, we’re hoping to show it in September, with a number of screenings,” she said.

"As far as films go, it’s the most requested one in recent times,” she said.

However, movie buffs will be delighted to hear the wolf pack is back, in comedy smash-hit The Hangover Part II, next month.

Kids’ favourites Cars 2 and Kung Fu Panda 2 will both air at Hedland’s Matt Dann centre in August.
